Community Goals:

  • Improve outcomes for the individuals participating in programs for financial stability
  • Increase amount of Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) dollars provided to families through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program
  • Increase access to additional resources for seniors served through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program
  • Increase number of chronic and vulnerable homeless (CVH) who access stable housing, health care, and financial stability

Signature Programs

Season of Sharing

As the Chrlotte County fiscal agent for the Season fo Sharing grant, UWCC invested $237,000 in 291 struffling families who were able to stay in their homes though assistance with reent, mortgage and utilities. (May 2019)

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance)

For six years, UWCC has offered tax preparation services for Charlotte County citizens. Thanks to 40 incredible volunteers and nearly 5,000 service hours over 10 weeks in 3 locations, our community had a record setting year totaling 589 prepared returns. Collectively, participants were refundind $542,984. This free program is estimated to have also saed at least $121, 628 in tax preparation costs for our neighbors.  (2019 tax season)
