Charlotte County is Generous!

May 7, 2020

We are blessed to have so many caring people who are able to help those in our community who struggle every day to make ends meet.  This was clearly evident through the recent Giving Challenge in Charlotte County where residents and businesses generously donated to numerous non-profit organizations which are dedicated to the betterment of life in our community.

United Way of Charlotte County brought awareness to ALICE which stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed. When COVID-19 hit, nearly 2.6 million Florida households were considered ALICE. With an additional 1 million below the Federal Poverty Level. They are our friends, family and neighbors. The ALICE population is those who are working but whose salary does not cover the basic costs of living expenses such as childcare, food, transportation and healthcare.  ALICE is one emergency, car repair or doctor visit from financial ruin – setting the stage for the unprecedented economic impact of this crisis. Charlotte County you made a difference in the lives of those in our community who are in desperate need during this unprecedented time! Thank you!

A number of other amazing individuals, businesses, corporations and philanthropic organizations even matched many of the contributions, both small and large, to leverage those donations.  While there is more need in our community than resources, particularly at this challenging time, there is no way to express the immense gratitude felt for those heroes who gave, and continue to give of themselves for the benefit of others.  Bless you all!!
