At United Way Charlotte County, we believe no child should be left out of extracurricular activities simply because their family cannot afford it. Enrichment programs—whether sports, arts, or academic clubs—help kids build confidence, friendships, and skills that last a lifetime.
United 4 Youth was created through a seed fund established by the Leadership Charlotte Class of 2025. With their vision and generosity, we are now opening and growing this initiative to open more doors for local children.
Through United 4 Youth, qualifying families can receive up to $300 per child each year to cover the cost of extracurricular activities, ensuring that every child has the chance to explore their passions, thrive, and contribute to a stronger community future.
How To Apply
- Apply: Families complete an application outlining the child’s interests and the program they want to join. Supporting documentation for income eligibility is required.
- Case Manager Review: United Way Charlotte County reviews each application for eligibility. They may contact applicants for a short interview or follow-up to better understand the child’s needs and program fit.
- Award Notification: Eligible families are notified by the Case Managers of scholarship amounts and next steps.
- Fund Disbursement: Once confirmed, a check is provided or sent directly to the partner provider.
Check the income chart and the list of qualifying circumstances to see if your family qualifies or contact the United Way directly at 941.627.3539 to meet with a Case Manager.

CLOSE THE GAP
Nearly half of all families in Charlotte County live paycheck to paycheck. For these families, extracurriculars like music lessons, sports, and 4-H are often out of reach. But missing out means more than just skipping fun. It means missing confidence, mentorship, teamwork, purpose, and the chance to belong. The United 4 Youth Children’s Enrichment Fund exists to change that.
