“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.” - Winnie the Pooh
As we recover from our miraculously minor bout with Hurricane Irma, I want to assure you that United Way will be here to ensure complete and full recovery. We can breathe again. Life goes on. And in that spirit, it is with bittersweet excitement that I share with you that I am leaving the United Way of Charlotte County. My eight years with the organization have been incredible and I will be forever grateful to the board of directors, staff, volunteers, and donors who have made this job nothing short of joyful. Angie Matthiessen will be stepping in as interim executive director and I am fully confident in her passion and commitment to this organization.
Pending Board of County Commission approval on September 19th, I will take the role of Human Services Director for Charlotte County on September 20th. I am thrilled by the opportunity to serve this community in a different way. I look forward to working with and supporting the United Way in the important and continued mission to eliminate poverty.
I want to say thank you to all of you. For your tireless dedication, for coming to the table, for your generous support, for having the hard conversations, for the work that you do, for inspiring me in countless ways….I am forever grateful.
Our work isn’t finished. We are still changing the game. I’m just changing positions on the team.
With my sincerest thanks,
PS….My last day at United Way is on Friday, September 15th.
